from soith america with love
From South America With Love. It’s a piece where I incorporated elements of vector art typical of the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, along with an oil field—elements from my childhood that I grew up seeing often. I also drew inspiration from the song “Flyway” by Kero Kero Bonito—perhaps my favorite by the group—because, I don’t know, it makes me feel nostalgic. It’s funny that even though the album came out in the fall of 2018, I associate it more with summer, with the heat and temperatures reaching almost 40 degrees.

The song feels both uplifting and sad at the same time—maybe that’s why I used the two elements: the dynamic, fun 2000s-style graphics that remind me of beautiful things, and, on the other hand, something as depressing as an oil field.
A short motion graphics example. I should mention that I did most of it in Inkscape. It was my first time using Inkscape! It’s actually more intuitive than Illustrator, and it runs really smoothly and quickly on my 4GB laptop (Linux), but in the end I ended up tweaking a few things in Illustrator and then imported it into After Effects.

official header
Official header art for stargze, I decided to use only 4 colors this time, previously I used 6, but I think it was too much too handle for me. Not purple this time, for some reason I was only feeling green, orange, blue and pink, but I still love purple!!

Inspired by some vector art and cartoons from my childhood, I can´t say with certain an especific example but it´s definetely inspired by this.

header prototype 2
Prototype for stargze ver-4 official header. Looked cute but i didn´t feel it 100%

header prototype 1
Header art prototype, also cute, but too much gray. I used the same building assets from the original header version. Actually I made this version first, but I really liked how the buildings looked so I used this asset in the current header.
